Toronto Hoopstars U12 girls were invited to the first ever Under Armour Future National Championship in Westfield Indiana this past June. Many of the top teams in North America were competing in this tournament and although playing against teams 1 year older, Toronto Hoopstars managed to finish 2-2 with their only 2 losses coming at the hands of the eventual champion and runner-up. Well done!
For the third consecutive year, the 2007 Rep Girls Basketball Team have proven to be one of the top teams in the country. They were the top team throughout the entire CYBL season before falling short in the championship game and finished 4th place in the OBA Provincial Championships despite having a number of players playing competitive basketball for their first time this season. They finished 1st or 2nd place in all Ontario tournaments competed in and went 5-1 in the Michigan Spartan Classic with its only loss coming against the tournament champion. The focus of the team continues to be skills and player development and the team has proven to be one of or perhaps the most skilled team in the country at its age level.
In only their second season together and second year of competitive basketball for more than half the team, the U13 Rep Girls Basketball Team managed to climb the ranks and finish 5th place in Division 3 at OBA Cup while also finishing 4th place in CYBL. They also won the Bronze medal in two of three tournaments in which they competed and had some close games against teams ranked 1 or 2 divisions higher than them. Season success is based on the level of improvement of players and how they function as a team so the 2018/2019 season for the U13 girls was most definitely a great success!
CYBL hosted their 2019 CYBL All-Star Girls Game on January 26, 2019 and Toronto Hoopstars Basketball was well represented in both the Grade 6 and Grade 7 Games. All 5 Grade 6 Starters were selected to the Grade 6 All-Star Team and 4 Grade 7 Girls were selected to the Grade 7 All-Star Team. Our very own Coach Adam was also selected as Head Coach for the Grade 6 All-Star Game. It was a great event hosted by CYBL and sponsored by Under Armour where all participants received great Under Armour gear and participated in a fun and memorable weekend of high caliber basketball. To cap off a great weekend, the two MVP's of the Grade 6 All-Star Game were both Toronto Hoopstars!!! All of the hard work and training is paying dividends.
Coach Adam Petersen and his Grade 4/5 Rep Basketball team are once again the CYBL (Canadian Youth Basketball League) Summer League Champions. Through hard work and training and a never give up attitude, his team was able to cap off an undefeated (11-0) CYBL Summer Season with a second straight CYBL Summer League Championship on July 29th. The team is very proud of their accomplishment as it was no easy feat considering they were competing against many of the strongest teams and players in Ontario.
Coach Adam Petersen coached two Rep Basketball teams in the OBA for the 2017/2018 season and both had tremendous success. His U11 Team was a standout finishing 7th in Division 1 at the OBA Cup and making it to the Semi-Finals in the Michigan Spartan Showcase Tournament in March. His U12 Team had an equally impressive 2017/2018 season. With more than half the team new to basketball this season, they managed to win the Gold Medal in the OBL (Ontario Basketball League) and the Silver Medal in Division 5 of the OBA Cup. They also made it to the Quarter Finals of the Michigan Spartan Showcase Tournament in March. The U12 team was definitely one of the OBA's great surprises and success stories for the 2017/2018 season. Hard work and training are keys to their success.
Coach Adam Petersen and his U10 Rep Basketball team have won the 2017 CYBL Summer League Showdown at HoopDome. The CYBL (Canadian Youth Basketball League) Summer League was comprised of some of the Elite Division 1 teams from the recent OBA season. Coach Adam and his team had a terrific summer season with 9 wins and only 1 loss en route to winning the Summer League Championship on July 29th. All the training pays off!
Coach Adam Petersen and his U10 Rep Basketball Team had a remarkable 2016/2017 season by finishing 7th in Division 1 of the OBA. Their team which carried one of the most players (13), along with many of the youngest (6 grade 3's), made it a huge challenge to finish amongst the Elite Division 1 team's in the Province, but through hard work, dedication, and lots of training, this team was able to greatly exceed all expectations. There is a bright future for all of the young players on this team!
